The Journey

When I decided to start a Substack, I knew I didn’t want to limit myself to writing about just one topic. My interests have taken me in many different directions over the years—higher education, leadership, research, travel, food, health, writing, and whatever idea happens to catch my attention next.

To help organize everything, I’ve decided to use three categories.

Archive is where I’ll share the experiences that have shaped me. These might be stories from my career, lessons I’ve learned, research I’ve conducted, places I’ve traveled, books I have read, or moments in life that changed the way I think. These posts will be titled Archive 001, followed by the topic.

Active Work is exactly what it sounds like—the projects I’m working on right now. That includes writing my manuscript, preparing conference presentations, planning my trip to Paris, exploring restaurant ideas, documenting my writing process, and sharing my health journey. These posts will be titled Active Work 001, followed by the topic.

Finally, there’s Possibilities. This may become my favorite category because it’s about curiosity. Sometimes I have an idea that isn’t fully formed yet. Sometimes it’s a question I can’t stop thinking about. Sometimes it’s simply wondering, “What if?” These posts are my opportunity to throw those ideas into the world and see where they lead. They’ll be titled Possibility 001, followed by the topic.

My hope is that this becomes more than a place where I write. I’d like it to become a place where we think together. At the end of each post, I’ll leave you with a question. If it sparks a memory, an idea, or even a different perspective, I’d love to hear it.

If you’re curious about leadership, learning, travel, food, research, personal growth, or simply exploring what’s possible, I’d love for you to join me.

I’d love to hear from you. Which category—Archive, Active Work, or Possibilities—are you most interested in, and what topic would you like to see first?
